High in the mountains South of Port-au-Prince lies the village of Fondwa, home to 7,000 peasants who live in relative isolation from the capital of Port-au-Prince. Life in Fondwa is a daily struggle, but residents continue to hope that their children will see a better future.

The Road to Fondwa
Since 1988, the Peasant Association of Fondwa (APF) has emerged as a model for sustainable agrarian development in rural Haiti. Its story is one of hope for the hundreds of other rural communes of Haiti, where the majority of people live on less than $1 per day. With the founding of the University of Fondwa in 2004, the APF is poised to share its experience with the entire country. The Road to Fondwa, a 20-minute photo montage with narration and classic Haitian music, is an intimate look at this community that is working to break the cycle of poverty. The inspirational story of Fondwa will soon be brought to life through digital film by the makers of The Road to Fondwa. To learn more about this exciting project, please visit www.fondwa.org today!
Thanks to the former UNIF Marketing Director Mawiyah Duperval for providing the title The Road to Fondwa. |
